  • Byproduct: MgSO₄ solution (can be crystallized for sale or discharged).

  • Best for: Large coal-fired plants needing high SO₂ removal (>95%).

B. Semi-Dry (Spray Dryer Adsorption)

  • Process: Mg(OH)₂ slurry is atomized into hot flue gas, drying to a powder while capturing SO₂.

  • Byproduct: Dry MgSO₃/MgSO₄ collected in filters.

  • Best for: Small-to-medium boilers, waste incinerators.
